Inside Out, Inc. was founded in 1994 with several goals in mind: to build and embrace the individual character, to encourage stewardship of the earth and one's community, and to foster a deep respect for one's self and one another.

	Monica Barrios, Associate Director, grew up in south Louisiana, and graduated with a BA from Nicholls State University. She moved to western North Carolina more than ten years ago to continue teaching and directing programs in the outdoors.  Monica has fifteen years of experience in managing and working with people of all ages and is currently working toward her certification in Environmental Education.  For Inside Out, she coordinates all of the nuts and bolts that go into a program. monica@insideout-inc.com
	Martha Culp (center), Executive Director, is a native of Florida and received her BA in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She started developing her teaching and outdoor skills at an early age. For the past fourteen years she has been sharing her knowledge with others, as well as becoming the driving force behind the vision and creation of Inside Out's programs. martha@insideout-inc.com

Inside Out staff members are a combination of many things. They are facilitators, educators, and outdoor enthusiasts. They are rock climbers, paddlers, artists, naturalists, backpackers, story tellers, and experts in many other areas. They are adept teachers, and above all, have a love for children and the learning opportunities that experiential education brings. Along with Inside Out's staff training, Basic First Aid and CPR are standard requirements. In addition, many of our staff hold more advanced rescue and medical training certificates, as well as certifications in specialized high-adventure activities, and degrees in related curriculum fields. Inside Out and its staff are dedicated to the care and preservation of the environment. Participants learn environmental ethics, low impact camping skills, and about the values of good stewardship.
